A Backward Morning
一个反面的早晨
It's Friday night.Kate comes to stay at Lucy's house.
星期五的晚上，凯特来露西家待着。
"Hi,Kate,"says Lucy.
“嗨，凯特。”露西说。
"Hi,"says Kate.
“嗨。”凯特说。
"Look at this."
“看这个。”
"What is it?"asks Lucy.
“它是什么？”露西问。
"It's a book called Funny Things to Do," says Kate.
“它是一本名叫《要做的趣事》的书。”凯特说。
"Look at page fourteen."
“看第十四页。”
Lucy turns to page fourteen and laughs.
露西翻到第十四页并且笑了。
"A Backward Morning,"she says."That sounds great."
“一个反向的早晨，”她说，“那听起来很棒。”
"But we have to get ready tonight,"says Kate.
“但是我们必须今晚就准备好。”凯特说。
The next morning the girls get up.Then they get ready for bed again.They brush their teeth. Lucy reads Kate a bedtime story.
第二天早晨，女孩们起床。然后地们又准备好要睡觉。她们刷牙。露西给凯特讲了一个睡前故事。
"Thank you,"says Kate. "And good night." They both laugh.
“谢谢你。”凯特说，“晚安。”她们都笑了。
"Now let's go and eat,"says Lucy.
“现在让我们去吃（饭）吧。”露西说。
"Good morning,girls,"say Mum and Dad.
“早上好，女孩们。”妈妈和爸爸说。
"Good night,"say Lucy and Kate.
“晚安。”露西和凯特说。
Mum looks at Dad.Dad looks at Mum.They both look surprised.
妈妈看爸爸，爸爸看妈妈。他们看起来都很惊讶。
"Let's eat," says Lucy.
“让我们吃（饭）吧。”露西说。
Mum and Dad look at the table.
妈妈和爸爸看桌子。
"The chairs are backward,"says Dad. "And the plates are upside down."
“椅子是反向的，”爸爸说，“而且盘子是例置的。”
"The fork is on the right side,"says Mum. "And the knife is on the left side."
“叉子在右边，”妈妈说，“刀在左边。”
They sit down on the backward chairs.
他们在反向的椅子上坐下来。
"Here comes our breakfast,"says Dad.
“我们的早餐来了。”爸爸说。
"Oh,it's hot dogs,"says Mum.
“哦，是热狗。”妈妈说。
"It's not breakfast,"says Lucy.
“它不是早餐。”露西说。
"It's dinner,"says Kate.
“它是晚餐。”凯特说。
"Ah,I think I understand,"says Mum.
“啊，我想我明白了。”妈妈说。
"Yes,everything is backward,"says Dad.
“是的，一切都是反的。”爸爸说。
They all eat the hot dogs.
他们都吃了热狗。
"Do you want to go to the anema this aftemoon?" asks Mum.
“你们今天下午想要去看电影吗？”妈妈问。
"No,"say Lucy and Kate.
“不。”露西和凯特说。
"Then go to the ice cream shop?"
“那么去冰淇淋店呢？”
"No," say Lucy and Kate.
“不。”露西和凯特说。
Mum and Dad smile.
妈妈和爸爸笑了。
Lucy and Kate look unhappy.
露西和凯特看起来不高兴。
"‘No’ means ‘yes’,you know,"says Lucy.
“‘不’意味着‘是’，你们知道的。”露西说。
"Because it's a backward morning,"says Kate.
“因为这是一个反向的早晨。”凯特说。
"Yes,we know,"says Mum.
“是的，我们知道。”妈妈说。
"Now get dressed and let's go to the cinema，"says Dad.
“现在穿好衣服，让我们去看电影吧。”爸爸说。
Everyone laughs.

"I want to see the snakes,"Sam says.

"Me too,"says Daming.

"Oh,Sam!I don't like snakes,"says Amy."I want to see the giraffes."
“哦，萨姆！我不喜欢蛇。”埃米说，“我想要看长颈鹿。”
"I like the elephants,"says Lingling.
“我喜欢大象。”玲玲说。
"I've got an idea," says Sam. "Daming and I will go and see the snakes.And you can see the elephants and giraffes."
“我有一个主意。”萨姆说，“大明和我将要去看蛇。你们可以看大象和长颈鹿。”
“OK,"says Amy."See you later."
“好的。”埃米说，“苒见。”
"When and where will we meet?"asks Amy.
“我们将要在什么时间，在哪里见面？”埃米问。
"Let's meet at three and see the lions,"says Sam.
“让我们在三点见面，看狮子吧。”萨姆说。
"That's a good idea,"says Lingling. "See you then."
“那是一个好主意。”玲玲说，“到时候见。”
Later on...
后来…
"Here are the lions," says Sam."What time is it?"
“狮子在这里。”萨姆说，“几点了？”
"It's two minutes past three.Where are Amy and Lingling?"asks Daming.
“三点零二分。埃米和玲玲在哪里？”大明问。
"I don't know," says Sam. "Let's buy some ice creams first."
“我不知道。”萨姆说，“让我们先买一些冰淇淋吧。”
Daming buys two ice creams.
大明买了两个冰淇淋。
"Here's your ice cream,Sam,"he says.
“这是你的冰淇淋，萨姆。”他说。
"Look at that monkey,"says Sam."It's funny."
“看那只猴子。”萨姆说，“它很有趣。”
"And it's very fast,"says Daming."Look!"
“而且它非常快。”大明说，“看！”
"Oh no! It's got my ice cream,"says Sam.
“哦，不！它拿走了我的冰淇淋。”萨姆说。
Daming laughs.

"It's not funny,"says Sam.

"And where are the girls?"

"Here we are,"says Amy.

She looks like a tiger. "There's face painting at the children's zoo,"says Lingling.She looks like a monkey. "Sam doesn't like monkeys,"says Daming."That's not funny," says Sam."And why are you late?" he asks Amy.Amy looks surprised."‘ Let's meet at three at the sea lions,’you said.But there aren't any sea lions in this zoo!" "Not sea lions,"says Sam."I said ‘Let's meet at three and see the lions’." "Oh no!" say Amy and Lingling.
她看起来像一只老虎。“在儿童动物园里有脸部彩绘。”玲玲说。她看起来像一只猴子。“萨姆不喜欢猴子。”大明说。“那不好笑。”萨姆说。“你们为什么迟到了？”他问埃米。埃米看起来很惊讶。“你说的‘让我们三点在海狮（那里）见面’。但是在这个动物园里没有海狮！”“不是海狮，”萨姆说，“我说的是‘让我们在三点见面，看狮子吧。”“哦，不！”埃米和玲玲说。

Little Tom wants to play.

Tom gets down from his chair.He goes into his parents' room.Mum is at the table.She has got a large box and many cards. "What are those, Mum?"asks Tom.
汤姆从他的椅子上下来。他走进他父母的房间。妈妈在桌子旁。她有一个大盒子和许多卡片。“那些是什么，妈妈？”汤姆问。
"They're postcards,"says Mum.
“它们是明信片。”妈妈说。
"Can I have a look?"asks Tom.
“我能看一看吗？”汤姆问。
"Of course，"says Mum. "Look at this one.It's from Daming,in the US.It's got a picture of Chinatown in New York."
“当然。”妈妈说，“看这张（明信片），它是大明从美国寄来的。它（上面）有一幅纽约唐人街的图片。”
"And what about this one?"Tom asks.
“这张呢？”汤姆问。
"That's a picture of Hong Kong.It's from Dad's friend,Mr Xu."
“那是一幅香港的图片。它是（你）爸爸的朋友徐先生寄来的。”
"You've got lots of postcards,"says Tom.
“你有许多明信片。”汤姆说。
"Yes,I love postcards," says Mum. "I collect them."
“是的，我喜欢明信片。”妈妈说，“我收集它们。”
"I want to collect something too,"Tom thinks and walks into the sitting room.Dad is at his desk.
我也想要收集一些东西。”汤姆想了想并走进了起居室。爸爸在他的书桌旁。
"What are those,Dad?"asks Tom.
“那些是什么，爸爸？”汤姆问。
"This is my stamp collection,"says Dad."It's very old."

"Can I collect stamps too?"asks Tom.

"Yes,"says Dad. "But we don't get many letters now.People send emails."

"Oh,"says Tom.

"I want to collect something too,"Tom thinks and goes to his room.He looks at his shelves. He's got some colouring books,but that isn't a collection.He opens his toy box.He's got some cars,but that isn't a collection.He counts his balls. "One,two,three."That isn't a collection.
“我也想要收集一些东西。”汤姆想了想并去他的房间了。他看他的书架。他有一些彩色的书，但是那不是一种收藏品。他打开他的玩具箱。他有一些（玩具）小汽车，但是那不是一种收藏品。他数他的球。“一个、两个、三个。”那不是一种收藏品。
Tom goes back to the sitting room.
汤姆回到起居室。
"You don't look very happy，Tom，"Dad says.
“你看起来不是很高兴，汤姆。”爸爸说。
"I want to collect something，"says Tom.
“我想要收集一些东西。”汤姆说。
"Well，"says Dad，"I have an idea."
“嗯，”爸爸说，“我有一个主意。”
He opens a drawer in his desk.
他打开他书桌里的一个抽屉。
He takes out a small box.
他拿出一个小盒子。
"This is from Uncle Fred，"he says.
“这是弗雷德叔叔寄来的。”他说。
"Oh yes，”says Tom."Uncle Fred is a pilot."
“哦，是的。”汤姆说，“弗雷德叔叔是一位飞行员。”
"That's right,"says Dad.
“那是对的。”爸爸说。
"And he has sent you some model planes.Look!"
“他寄给你一些飞机模型。看！”
Tom looks in the box. There are four small planes.
汤姆向盒子里看。有四架（玩具）小飞机。
"These are from different airlines，"says Dad.
“这些（玩具飞机）来自不同的航空公司。”爸爸说。
"This one is Japanese.This one is Mexican.
“这架是日本的。这架是墨西哥的。
This one is American.And this one is Chinese.
这架是美国的。这架是中国的。
Uncle Fred knows you love planes."
弗雷德叔叔知道你喜欢飞机。”
"Wow!”says Tom."You can have them now，" says Dad."You can start a plane collection."
“哇！”汤姆说。“现在你能拥有它们了。”爸爸说，“你能开始收藏（玩具）飞机了。”
