这篇阅读文章是练习be动词（了解be动词用法，可看这篇文章：英语语法：be动词的用法和练习）的用法。文中有一些空格，需要选择be动词的形式完成文章。
be动词的用法可用下面这张图来表示：
先看第1篇文章Peter and Carl:
先来看每个句子。
1.Hello! My name___________Carl.
My name后面填is。
完整的句子是：Hello! My name is Carl. 你好!我叫卡尔。
2.I___________ from Australia.
I后面要跟am。
完整的句子是：I am 13 years old and I am a student at a secondary school. 我今年13岁，是一名中学生。
3.I___________ 13 years old and I ___________ a student at a secondary school.
I后面要跟am。
完整的句子是：My father is a teacher and my mother is a nurse. 我的父亲是一名教师，我的母亲是一名护士。
4.My father ___________ a teacher and my mother ___________ a nurse.
my father和my mother是第三人称单数，后跟is。
完整的句子是：My father is 45 years old and my mother is 42. 我的父亲45岁，我的母亲42岁。
5.My father ___________ 45 years old and my mother ___________42.
my father和my mother是第三人称单数，后跟is。
完整的句子是：My father is 45 years old and my mother is 42. 我的父亲45岁，我的母亲42岁。
6.We live in the city center.
我们住在市中心。
7.Our house ___________a small flat but it ___________ new and modern.
our house是第三人称单数，后跟is。
it指代的是our house，后跟is。
完整的句子是：Our house is a small flat but it is new and modern. 我们的房子是一个小公寓，但它是新的和现代的。
8.My grandparents live with us.
我的祖父母和我们住在一起。
9.They ___________retired.
they是第三人称复数，后跟are。
完整的句子是：They are retired. 他们都退休了。
10.This boy___________ Peter.
this boy是第三人称单数，后跟is。
完整的句子是：This boy is Peter.这个男孩是彼得。

His parents 是第三人称复数，后跟are。

Their office 是第三人称单数，后跟is。
完整的句子是：Their office is on Curry Street. 他们的办公室在咖哩街。
16.They live in the city center.
他们住在市中心。
17.Their house ___________very big and it has got a big garden.
Their house是第三人称单数，后跟is。
完整的句子是：Their house is very big and it has got a big garden. 他们的房子很大，有一个大花园。
18.We ___________always together after school.
we是第一人称复数，后跟are。
完整的句子是：We are always together after school.放学后我们总是在一起。
